The most generally useful of these abilities include a strong off-healing cooldown in Ancestral Guidance, group movement speed with Wind Rush Totem, and area denial or crowd control abilities such as Capacitor Totem + Guardian's Cudgel, Thunderstorm + Thundershock, Sundering, Earthgrab Totem, and (in PvP) Static Field Totem. In addition to dealing damage, Enhancement also brings an extensive repertoire of utility that can be highly desired in group content. This results in a sort of "feedback loops within feedback loops" style of gameplay - where intricate mechanics and abilities all combine together to form a play style that is truly greater than the sum of its individual parts. Although we won’t dive into the specifics here, as a general rule of thumb abilities and effects from a given spell school will combo off of or enhance each other. Consequently, the dance you’ll perform while playing Enhancement will center around avoiding overcapping your Maelstrom Weapon stacks while still keeping as many of your abilities on cooldown as often as you can.Īnother important part of the Enhancement Shaman gameplay lies in recognizing the high degree of interactivity between our spells and abilities, many of which enhance each other in ways that are thematic to each spell school. Your Maelstrom Weapon spenders ( Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst or Elemental Blast) will be your hardest-hitting abilities, and your melee attacks ( Stormstrike, Lava Lash, Ice Strike, Crash Lightning, Sundering, Windfury Weapon) have a chance to generate Maelstrom Weapon stacks every time they deal damage. In Dragonflight, Enhancement Shaman gameplay focuses on carefully managing two resources: Maelstrom Weapon and ability cooldowns.
